How a Pakistani address is written
Urban addresses in Pakistan are built from numbered units rather than named streets. A typical line gives the house or plot number, the street number and the sector, block or phase of a housing scheme, then the neighbourhood, the city and the postal code: House No. 214, Street 9, G-9/4, Islamabad 44090. Apartments add a flat number and building name: Flat 32, Sitara Residency.
Each large city has its own conventions. Islamabad is laid out in lettered sectors with numbered sub-sectors (F-7/2 means sector F-7, sub-sector 2). Karachi neighbourhoods are split into blocks (Block 13-D, Gulshan-e-Iqbal), and planned housing societies use phases (DHA Phase 5, Bahria Town Phase 4). Many people also add a landmark such as a mosque, school or market, because couriers navigate by them.
Postal codes
Pakistan Post uses five-digit postal codes. Large cities have a range of codes for their delivery areas — Karachi codes start with 74 or 75, Lahore with 54, Islamabad with 44, Rawalpindi with 46 and Peshawar with 25 — while smaller towns usually have one code. The codes are less familiar to the public than in Europe, and many addresses are written without them, so a strict required field will turn away genuine customers. The generator keeps the first digits correct for each city; the rest is random.
Provinces and territories
Pakistan has four provinces — Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan — plus Islamabad Capital Territory and the two administered territories of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Spellings vary in user input: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is often shortened to “KPK” or “KP” (it was called NWFP until 2010), and Balochistan is sometimes written Baluchistan. If you offer a select list, include the territories as well as the provinces.
Testing tips
- Transliterated area names vary:
Gulshan-e-Iqbal,Gulshan e IqbalandGulshan-i-Iqbalare the same place. Don’t match addresses by exact string. - Allow slashes and hyphens in sector and block fields (
F-10/1,13-D). - Make the postal code optional and validate it with
^\d{5}$when present. - If you localise, test Urdu input: it is written right to left and mixes with Latin digits.
- Leave a free-text field for landmarks; it is often the most useful line for delivery.
Using the data in fixtures
Generate a batch for each province and run it through every place an address appears: signup, checkout, invoices, shipping labels and admin search. Pakistani addresses are long and full of commas, slashes and hyphens, so they are good at exposing CSV quoting bugs, truncated database columns and label layouts that only fit short Western addresses. Mix in flats and plots as well as houses, and check that search still finds an address when users type the area name with a different spelling.
What is not generated
The tool does not generate CNIC numbers or any other national identifier. Street lines are built from random numbers and generic words; areas and postal code ranges are real so that the data looks right in your forms, but the full addresses are fictional.

Validation pattern used for the Postal code: ^\d{5}$. It checks the format only — whether a code is actually in use is known only to the postal operator.
Phone numbers in Pakistan test data
Pakistani mobile numbers are written +92 3XX XXXXXXX (0300–0349 style prefixes domestically) and landlines use city codes such as 021 for Karachi and 042 for Lahore. We know of no officially reserved fictional range for Pakistan, so the generator leaves the phone field blank rather than inventing numbers that may belong to someone.

Frequently asked questions
What does F-7/2 mean in an Islamabad address?
Islamabad is divided into lettered sectors such as F-7, and each sector into four numbered sub-sectors. F-7/2 is sub-sector 2 of sector F-7.
Do Pakistani addresses need a postal code?
Pakistan Post uses five-digit codes, but many people write addresses without them. Treat the field as optional in forms.
Is KPK the same as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa?
Yes. KPK and KP are informal abbreviations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province formerly called the North-West Frontier Province.
Is this a real address in Pakistan?
No. The city, province / territory and postcode format are real, but the street and house number are random. Use the addresses for testing forms, databases and shipping-rate logic, never to send mail or goods.
