No postcodes in the UAE
The United Arab Emirates does not use postcodes. Mail is delivered to P.O. Boxes rented at post offices, and couriers deliver to a physical address described by building, street, community and phone number. A form that makes the postcode field mandatory forces customers to invent a value, and many end up typing 00000 or their P.O. Box number, which pollutes your data. Hide or relax the postcode field when the country is AE, and if a payment provider insists on one, document a single placeholder for internal use rather than asking customers.
Some payment forms ask for a P.O. Box instead. It is a number of up to five or six digits and belongs to a post office, not to the home, so it cannot be used to find the customer’s location.
How a UAE address is written
Addresses are written in English or Arabic and run from the most specific detail upwards: villa or flat number, building name, street, community or area, city and emirate. Examples: Flat 1204, Al Noor Tower, Al Nahda 2, Dubai or Villa 18, Street 27, Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi. Large communities are numbered in parts (Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3; Al Nahda 1 and 2), and the number matters for delivery.
Dubai gives every building a ten-digit Makani number, and Abu Dhabi uses its own addressing system with building and street numbers on signs. These are useful extra fields for delivery-heavy products, but most customers still describe the location by building name and landmark.
Emirates and cities
The country has seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Each takes its name from its main city, so city and emirate are often the same word — but not always. Al Ain, the second city of Abu Dhabi emirate, is far from Abu Dhabi city; Khor Fakkan and Kalba are exclaves of Sharjah on the east coast; Hatta belongs to Dubai. Ask for the emirate as a select with seven options and the city or area as text.
Testing tips
- Never require a postcode for AE, and check that the address still prints correctly without one.
- Test names transliterated in several ways (
Al Nahda,Al-Nahda,Alnahda) and Arabic input written right to left. - Allow long building names and a landmark field.
- Make the phone number required for delivery flows; it is often the only reliable way for a driver to find the customer.
- If you support P.O. Boxes, store them separately from the street address.
Using the data in fixtures
Use a mix of villas, flats and P.O. Boxes across all seven emirates, and check that invoices, labels and exports look right with no postcode at all.
What is not generated
The tool does not generate Emirates ID numbers or any other identifier. Building and street names are built from generic Arabic words, so the addresses are fictional; communities, cities and emirates are real.

Phone numbers in United Arab Emirates test data
UAE mobile numbers are written +971 5X XXX XXXX (05X domestically), and landlines use area codes such as 04 for Dubai and 02 for Abu Dhabi. We know of no officially reserved fictional range for the UAE, so the generator leaves the phone field blank — couriers rely on the phone number, so test that field with your own fixtures.

Frequently asked questions
Does the UAE have postcodes?
No. The UAE uses P.O. Boxes for mail and building, street and area for deliveries. Forms should not require a postcode for UAE addresses.
What should I enter as a UAE zip code?
As a developer, don’t ask for one. If a third-party system demands a value, use a documented internal placeholder rather than asking customers to invent a code.
Is Al Ain in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Al Ain is a city in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, about 160 km from Abu Dhabi city.
Is this a real address in United Arab Emirates?
No. The city, emirate and postcode format are real, but the street and house number are random. Use the addresses for testing forms, databases and shipping-rate logic, never to send mail or goods.
